How to hang your pool table light:
First you should determine where the electricity for your new
pool table light will come from. The ideal spot is from a junction box
on the ceiling in the center of the pool table, some houses have an
outlet on the wall or ceiling, or perhaps the junction box isn’t in
the center of the table, but we’ll assume you’re set up for the center
table install.
The height of the billiard lamp should be approximately 30” from the surface of your pool table. It
should allow the light to cast out to the edge
Of the pool table, but not be so high the light floods out on the floor. Also,
if your pool table light is too low you will have shadows from the balls at
the ends of the table. I recommend starting at 30” and adjusting it according to the specifics of the
billiard light you choose, simply add or subtract links from the chain.
If your pool table isn’t installed yet and you’d like to hang your pool
table light first, hang the bottom of your lamp shades about 62” from the
floor. You may wish to adjust it slightly after your pool table is in, so
be sure to leave some extra chain available. Most pool table lights sold
today, and all those sold at MyCustomGameroom.com, will come with
a canopy that attaches to the ceiling which you will hook the top of
the chain to. If you don’t have power in the center of the table you
may leave the canopy off and simply run the chains to two separate
hooks above either end of your pool table.
