How to choose the best pool table in Kansas

Without exception, in my opinion, the best built pool table on the market is the Connelly Billiards

line. Connelly goes above and beyond what is required to build a quality table. For example, the cabinet

is assembled in the factory in one piece with a permanent furniture like construction with all wood, glue,

and nails. They do not use any metal brackets with screws or inserts that tend to loosen in many imports

or inferior pool tables. The cabinet is also oversized, larger than other tables. When the slate is put on

the cabinet there is very little hanging over the edge, and during leveling the shims are between the actual

cabinet and slate, not between a plywood slate liner as on many other tables. Another distinct difference

between Connelly tables and most others is the four bolt rapid rail system. Each top rail has four bolts,

which means each rail bolt is closer together, cutting down on vibration from the impact of the balls and

giving the liveliest rebound in the game. You’ll notice, if you look, that the cabinet corners on a Connelly

billiard table comes to a 45 degree miter, while imports and other American tables alike build the cabinet

in four pieces and then cover the corner with a trim block. It is this mitered corner that insures the cabinet

is square, if it weren’t it would surely show.

Once you reach the Plateau collection Connelly pool tables even include 1 ¼” slate , while the industry

standard is 1”. Add in the minimum cabinet thickness of 1 ½”, 6” wide top rails, and beautiful finishes

second to none and it starts to become clear why I believe these are the best available pool tables in Kansas,

Missouri, or anywhere for that matter.

There are many choices today for pool tables, and I’ve always preferred the Connelly line, but another

important aspect of choosing a table involves the installation. Be very careful when one entity wants to sell

and ship you something, and then have someone entirely different come and install it. If you’ve never

unloaded a pool table from a freight truck, take my advice, it’s not something you want to learn in your

driveway, especially after spending a sizeable amount of money.
